How can my club learn about the Foundation?

Members of the Board and staff of the Foundation are available to speak to your club or division at any time. Contact the Secretary to secure a speaker.

How does my club get a grant from the Foundation?

Applications are available on this website. They should be submitted by the deadline following the guidelines provided. They are reviewed by a committee and final decisions are made by the Board in December, May and August of each year.

What are the steps to start a Club Advised Fund?

Complete the agreement form, vote by your Kiwanis Club Board to approve the agreement, send in the agreement and a $5000 initial deposit to the Ohio District Foundation.

What is the cost for setting up a Club Advised Fund?

There is no cost to establish your account within the Ohio District Kiwanis Foundation. Once you have completed the agreement form and deposited $5000 into your account, you are a Club Advised Fund.

Club Advised Funds pay 1.5% annual administrative fee to the Foundation and pay investment management fees to the investment advisor which vary with the size of the fund.

Do we have a say in how the Foundation money is invested?

Your elected Ohio Kiwanis Foundation Board members determine how your funds are invested. You elect new members for three year terms. Any Kiwanis member can be elected to the Board.

The Foundation Finance committee determines how funds are invested. This committee is always open for input into how your funds may be invested. The Investment Policy adopted by the Board is the official guideline for the Investment Advisor hired by the Board to manage the investments.

Can we get our money out of the Club Advised Fund for a project?

Funds are distributed from the Club Advised Fund upon receipt of a request detailing the use of the funds which is approved by the Foundation Board. Money can be available within 30 days or sooner as needed.

Where is the Foundation Office?

The ODKF office is located in Wooster, Ohio. Jean Forbes is the secretary and operates from this location.

What are the administrative costs of the Foundation?

The Foundation only spends 3% on administrative costs.

Who runs the Foundation?

The Foundation is run by the officers and board of directors. In addition The Foundation has two staff. They are volunteers who receive no compensation for providing leadership to the organization.

Do only Kiwanis members donate to the Foundation?

You do not have to be a Kiwanis member to donate to the Foundation. Anyone can donate to the Foundation and receive the tax deductibility of a 501c3 organization. Donations can be made using PayPal or by sending a check to Ohio District Kiwanis Foundation, P. O. Box 1013, Wooster, Ohio 44691.
