First Lady Carol Parker raised funds for Pediatric Trauma Prevention and Treatment during the 2009-2010 year. Her particular interest was in the area of preventing child abuse.
Carol raised over $5,000 for the area of child abuse prevention by selling recyclable tote bags for $5.00. A grant of $5,000 was given to the Ohio Network of Child Advocacy Centers at the District Convention in August for their efforts to prevent child abuse.
Over $25,000 has been added to the Pediatric Trauma Fund during the 2009-2010 year. These funds are available for grants for Kiwanis Club projects all over the state which address the concerns of preventing and treating pediatric trauma. Application guidelines and forms can be downloaded from Forms.
