Pre-kindergarten students are taught many aspects of safety before they begin to attend elementary schools throughout Ohio. Kiwanis Clubs provide teachers and organization to an event that lasts for a week, filled with instruction on traffic safety, fire and police protection, dog safety, poison prevention. Interaction with public safety officers teaches the children to rely on adults who can be helpful to them. Some communities have permanent safety town structures, others set up moveable structures for the learning experience in a fun atmosphere.
